WILLIAM A. (BILL) TODD
July 4, 1930 – August 11, 2021
We are sad to announce the passing of our dad, grandfather and friend, Bill, at the age of 91.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Ruth; his son Brett (Joan) and their daughters, Dana and Brynn; his son Bart (Dana) and their daughter Spencer; and his son Tony (Nikki) and their son Kaelum.
Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg and lived a long and fulfilling life. He had a love for all sports and excelled as a football player. He had an eight-year career in the CFL with Winnipeg and Saskatchewan and was always excited to talk about his football years. Several people were fortunate enough to see Dad’s “scrapbook” and have him review each article in detail. He also loved following the Jets, the Blue Jays and all levels of golf.
Dad’s working career was exclusively in sales. He represented some of the top lines in the world including Wilson sporting goods; Seagram’s liquors; and GM and Honda automobiles.
After retirement, Mom and Dad spent many holidays cruising. Dad got involved with the Blue Bomber Alumni and served as president for three years and he and Mom co-hosted several Blue Bomber Alumni Cruises with good friends Janet and Ken Ploen. Mom and Dad were always great hosts, and they met many wonderful people on the cruises.
Dad always enjoyed when the family got together for birthdays, holiday celebrations and other events. His final two events this summer were in Tony and Nikki’s backyard and in the garden at St. Charles. All of us will very much miss him and his great sense of humour.
A private family celebration of Dad’s life will take place soon.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Winnipeg Blue Bomber Alumni Scholarship Fund – c/o 25-1010 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3P 2S4.
