Former University of Memphis linebacker Danton Barto has died from Covid at the young age of 50. Barto played five seasons in the CFL and AFL, Barto also served as a scout for the Los Angeles Rams. In 1995 the CFL expanded into the United States with the franchise of the Memphis Mad Dogs. Barto played linebacker for the team. After his CFL stint, he went on to the Memphis Xplorers where he played and coached. In 2005, he won the AFL championship as a coach with Memphis, and he was later acknowledged as coach of the year in the league. Condolences to his family and friends, and may he Rest in Peace.
