Michael Kmech left us on February 23, 2022 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gertrude; his children: Dean Kmech (Michele), Michele McIntyre (Ron) and Jay Kmech (Sharilyn); grandchildren: Jonn Kmech, Lara Kmech, Michael McIntyre (Madeleine) and Allyson McIntyre (Daniel Toumine).
Mike was born to parents John and Michalina Kmech and raised in Star Alberta. Anyone who knew Mike will remember that he was a character who always enjoyed a good laugh. He was a devoted fan of his children and grandchildren and all their endeavours, never missing a game or recital. Mike loved spending time at his farm raising cattle and horses with the companionship of his beloved dogs. He was especially proud of winning a Grey Cup with the Edmonton Eskimos in 1956, always speaking fondly of his teammates.
Thank you to the staff of St. Michael’s Long Term Care Centre for their kindness toward Dad for the past 5 months.
