Former CFL quarterback Marcus Brady has become an NFL offensive coordinator candidate

Former CFL quarterback Marcus Brady is being looked at as an offensive coordinator candidate in the NFL.

Brady just finished his second season as quarterbacks coach with the Indianapolis Colts. He originally joined the franchise in 2018 as assistant quarterbacks coach.

In his first year in Indy, Brady helped Andrew Luck return to elite form passing for 4,593 yards and 39 touchdowns, second most in the NFL. After Luck unexpectedly retired prior to the 2019 season, Brady worked with Jacoby Brissett. Last season Brady was the man overseeing Philip Rivers.

The 39-year-old Rivers completed 68 percent of his passes for 4,169 yards with 24 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. The 17-year NFL veteran guided the Colts to the playoffs but lost to the Buffalo Bills 27-24 in the AFC Wild Card round.

Colts head coach Frank Reich was a quarterback at the University of Maryland, the same school where Edmonton Football Team bench boss Scott Milanovich played. Brady spent eight seasons, from 2009 to 2016, on coaching staffs with Milanovich, first in Montreal and then Toronto.

After seven seasons as a quarterback in the CFL with the Argos, Ticats and Alouettes, Brady was named Montreal’s receivers coach on Marc Trestman’s staff with the Als in 2009 to begin his coaching career. He was elevated to the birds offensive coordinator in 2012 and then took the same job with Toronto in 2013 and spent five seasons in double blue, winning a Grey Cup with the Argos in 2017.
