Funeral arrangement have been announced for former Toronto Argonaut Les Ascott.
Ascott, who was born and raised in Peterborough, died Thursday at the age of 91.
He started his football career at Peterborough Collegiate in the 1930s . . . but it wasn’t much more than a year after high school that he moved onto the CFL. He was an Argo for a ten years in total…..in between he did a stint with the Navy during World War 2.
In all, he helped Toronto win three consecutive Grey Cups and two more before he retired. He returned to Peterborough in 1982.
Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Nisbett Funeral Home on Monaghan Rd. S.; the memorial service is Wednesday at 11 a.m…at Nisbett’s.
