The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is saddened to learn that former RB Bill Cross has passed away in Canadian Texas. He was 84 years old.
Cross, who played one season for the Argonauts in 1954 was known as the “Canadian Comet,” a moniker he received for his athletic ability and running skills while standing just 5-foot-6. He played in 13 regular season games and no playoff games.
He also played in the NFL for three seasons from 1951 to 1953 with the Chicago Cardinals.
In 2012, Cross was memorialized in Canadian Texas with a life-size state at Wildcats Stadium where he played his High School football.
